Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is taking part in a summit aimed at ensuring poor countries will have ready access to an eventual vaccine for COVID-19.

This summit is being hosted by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and involves leaders from 50 countries and major organizations, including philanthropists Bill and Melinda Gates.

The international pledging conference hopes to raise nearly 10-billion for the Vaccine Alliance, which is the leading agency for distributing vaccines to less-developed countries.

Yesterday, Trudeau told a virtual summit of the Organization of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States that Canada is committed to assisting the recovery of developing countries hardest hit by the
pandemic.
