Trudeau set to meet with premiers to discuss Trump threats

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will host premiers in Ottawa Wednesday to discuss a national plan in response to U.S. president-elect Donald Trump’s threats.
The group will discuss the nation’s plan to address Trump’s threats to slap hefty tariffs on all Canadian goods, unless the country boosts border security.
Trump has promised to impose 25 per cent tariffs on all Canadian and Mexican imports – a measure he says he will enact on day one of his presidency through an executive order.
Trudeau and his cabinet will discuss that border plan with the premiers, along with any possible retaliatory tariffs.
Tensions may emerge at the meeting over the prospect of blocking energy exports to the U.S.
Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc met with Ontario Premier Doug Ford Tuesday to talk about Canada’s response to the threats.
