Trudeau promotes Canada as global leader at AI summit in Paris

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said at a Paris summit this week that powering AI development will be a key priority for the G7 this year.
Trudeau spoke of how important it was to address AI, and to set up a plan on how to handle technology that is “going to transform our world.”
“It’s essential, and it’s important because not just it’s going to transform our world, but how we do it thoughtfully, deliberately, responsibly is being decided right now,” said Trudeau.
“How we make sure that we have the energy to power AI in a clean enough way and in an efficient enough way, that’s not going to set us back in our fight to reduce carbon emissions.”
Trudeau is scheduled to travel to Brussels Wednesday to meet with E.U. leaders, offering Canada an opportunity to build its relationship with the European Union in the context of Trump’s threats.
U.S. Vice President JD Vance is also attending the summit, on his first overseas trip as vice president.
