Trudeau launches $4B Housing Accelerator Fund

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a multi-billion dollar initiative in Guelph this morning.

The government says the 5-year program will provide 4 billion dollars in funding for local governments to streamline the construction of 100,000 new, affordable homes.

The Housing Accelerator Fund was initially announced in the 2022 budget and will run until 2026/27.

The application portal will open in June, and local governments are encouraged to begin preparing their proposed action plans right away.
