Trial of man accused of fatal hit-and-run of Boris Brott underway

The trial of Arsenije Lojovic, accused of running over and killing renowned Hamilton conductor Boris Brott started on Friday at Hamilton’s John Sopinka Courthouse. Lojovic is charged with failure to stop after an accident causing death and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.

Brott was the conductor of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and founder of the Brott Music Festival.

The prosecution showed evidence of a black Volkswagon Golf driving in the wrong direction on Main Street at 10 a.m. They proceeded to share a series of videos showing a black Volkswagon Golf driving around Hamilton often on the wrong side of the street. Brott was struck and killed by a black Volkswagon Golf on April 5, 2022. The family of Brott left the courtroom when the prosecution showed Brott being struck by the car.

The trial will continue on Monday.
