News of Ford’s crack cocaine use is not only making headlines in Toronto, but also around the world. And Wednesday, we caught up with travellers arriving at Pearson Airport to see what they think about the scandal.

Oliver Tran had just arrived back from Paris: “It made it to Paris on the national news. So it was like a 2 minute segment, but Mayor Ford was on the French news, which I thought was hilarious. You know, I’m in Paris and I have to hear about Rob Ford and his cocaine problem.”

“Oh, it was big news in Washington, it was both on radio, newspaper and TV.”

Vincent Gonzalves read about Rob Ford in Paris: “It’s very like, a big scandal in the world, so it’s very easy. You see a flash of news on the television, like “the Mayor of Toronto used to have crack” and in the newspaper it’s got very interesting articles of. It’s just like a very strange and very funny event.”

Bill Lloyd was visiting from Northern Virginia: “You’re just going through the same misery that we go through in the states. So welcome to the team. It’s unfortunate, but it’ll be up to Canadians to decide whether they want to leave this guy in office, it’ll be interesting to watch.. But we’ve seen things like this with our mayors in Washington DC, and politicians in other places.”

Thomas Bogenrieder was visiting from Vienna, Austria: “He admitted to doing it because he was drunk. That was his excuse.. It was a small clipping in a more serious newspaper. It just caught my attention because I was flying to Toronto today. Travellers heard about Ford controversy overseas.”
