A huge fire broke out this afternoon in a townhouse complex on Lang street, the good news is everyone got out safely but the home is destroyed. Police and neighbours are now looking for a good Samaritan who rescued a dog from the unit next door.
There was chaos and panic as a woman screamed for her dog inside the burning building. A man named Adrienne ran into the unit and pulled out the dog much to the relief of the dogs owner, but no one appeared to know who he is, police are looking for him. And it was just in time as the flames quickly started shooting out of the roof.
Fire-fighters arrived within minutes and began to douse the flames. Neighbours say this fire spread quickly, one minute the townhouse was perfectly fine the next it was engulfed in flames. “When I came home, nothing, but when I went out to get milk 2 minutes later the whole place was in flames.”
According to neighbours the woman who lives in unit 100 is named Keosha, she wasn’t home at the time of the fire but collapsed in shock when she realized her home was lost.
Fire crews cut holes in the roof to extinguish any hot spots, while a number of people converged on the area. From the front it appears only two units were damaged but it’s a different story in the back. “The end unit suffered major damage and would need major reconstruction as for the adjoining units there is smoke damage and the entire extension we will have to see how far it extended into the roof.”
The fire is not considered suspicious.
