Town of Paris ‘Brave the Cold’ to raise money for the homeless
A group of locals in Paris have come together to enjoy the Family Day weekend outside, but not the way you would expect.
Participants in the second annual Brave the Cold initiative raise money for those experiencing homelessness by sleeping in tents overnight.
All the proceeds go to charities that support the homeless and local food banks.
Last year they raised $10,000 and this year not only are they getting more support, but also more participants. And for campers returning for their second round it’s just as brutal as last year.
Randy Knowles, the owner of Paris Springs Park where the campers are staying says he’s doing it again because it’s an important cause to support the people who do this every night.
“I wouldn’t want to do it everyday it’s not a good experience, it’s not a good experience, there’s not comfort in this at all. ”
Participants will be out in the cold until Monday and they’re hoping to raise more than $10,000 this year.
They’re also selling raffle tickets to the public with really cool prizes which will be drawn on Monday and all proceeds will go to local homeless charities.
