Toronto Mayor raises rainbow flag

The official raising of the rainbow flag took place Thursday at Toronto City Hall to commemorate International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia.

Mayor Rob Ford surprised those in attendance by doing the flag raising.

Initially, Ford said that the event would not fit into his schedule.

The last two years, Councillor Gord Perks read the city proclamation, which is signed by the Mayor.

Toronto Maple Leafs President and General Manger Brian Burke was among the speakers at the event.
