Toronto Maple Leafs’ captain John Tavares netted his 1,000th NHL point last night in a moment that seemed straight out of a movie.

Taking on the Islanders in New York, his former team with whom he collected more than half his career points, Tavares’ father watched on from a suite, part of the Leafs’ annual dads trip.

It was a moment not even boos from Islanders fans could ruin.
