Toronto garbage worker dead after being hit by his own truck: police

A 66-year-old Toronto garbage truck driver is dead after police say he was hit by his own truck.

Police say it happened around 8:30 a.m. in Scarborough.

They say the worker was outside the truck when it started to roll into him.

Police say he died at the scene.

A city spokesperson says they were “deeply saddened” by the employee’s death and extended condolences to his family, friends and peers.

The statement says the city is co-operating with police and investigators with the Ministry of Labour.
