Days before they open the 2026 Canadian Football League (CFL) season the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have made their final training camp roster cuts.
The Ticats wrapped up their camp at McMaster University this weekend by announcing 23 players have been released from the team and another 13 were added to the practice roster.
Highlighting the list of players who’ve been released is American receiver JerJuan Newton, who scored three touchdowns in Hamilton’s 20-14 preseason victory against the Toronto Argonauts on Friday night.
Other notable players who received their walking papers on Sunday include 2026 CFL draft picks Marc Rondeau and Kyler Laing, as well as veteran offensive lineman Eric Lofton.
Practice roster spots were handed to defensive back Zamari Walton, tight end Jevoni Robinson, punter Nick Haberer and defensive linemen Brian Ugwu and De’Jon Benton.
The Tiger-Cats will kick off the regular season this Thursday night when they host the defending East Division champion Montreal Alouettes at Hamilton Stadium.
