Ticats change up linebacker corps

The Ticats are four games into a new season with a new man in charge, and that new man is clearly not satisfied with what he’s seeing.

Head coach and GM Kent Austin continues to re-jig a lineup that based on what we have seen so far, isn’t good enough – at least not yet. Yesterday three players – including veteran linebacker Markeith Knowlton – were cut.

Today the Cats signed linebacker Brandon Isaac, off his release yesterday by the Toronto Argonauts. Isaac began his four year CFL career with the Stampeders and was a member of the Argos’ Grey Cup-winning squad last year.

He is expected to make his debut in Saturday’s rematch against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Veteran Jamall Johnson, a longtime friend of Knowlton’s, will remain in the middle. He says Knowlton’s release sends a message to the team.
