Three arrested for carjackings that took place in Oakville

Halton police have arrested three people responsible for carjackings that took place in Oakville on February 26 and March 30.
The March 30 carjacking also involved a shooting.
After the two carjackings, investigators say on May 27, they arrested 19-year-old Christopher Ugochukwu of Toronto. On June 6, 22-year-old Merrick Beddaoui was also arrested.
The pair are facing multiple charges for multiple carjackings that took place throughout the GTA, including the two incidents in Oakville.
On May 20, police then arrested 27-year-old Chessen Johnston of Brampton. He is facing charges related to the investigation of the February 26 carjacking in Oakville. Police say at the time of his arrest, Johnston was in possession of a stolen vehicle and a loaded 9mm handgun.
Halton police say as a result of the increase in carjacking incidents across the GTA, local police services have combined resources and established a task force, dubbed Operation GTA, to coordinate law enforcement efforts,
