Thorold woman charged in Sept. 3 fatal bike collision

Niagara detectives have charged a Thorold woman with careless driving causing death in an early September bike collision that killed a woman in Niagara Falls.

At around 1. a.m. on Sept. 3 a black 2010 Acura ZDX collided with the bike on McLeod Road.

It was being operated by a 30-year-old man, with a 36-year-old female passenger seated in a wagon.

The male cyclist incurred serious injuries and the female passenger, a Niagara resident, died as a result of her critical injuries.

On Nov. 18, detectives charged the Thorold woman, age 43, with careless driving causing bodily harm and death.

She has been charged with provincial offences not Criminal Code offences, as such her name is not being made public.

The woman was released with a future court date set for March 4 of next year in Welland.
