Thorold drug raid unveils snakes

An overnight drug raid at a home in Thorold uncovered more than just illegal narcotics.

Along with 100-thousand dollars worth of cocaine, ecstacy and marijuana, police found 36 snakes and 65 rats inside a house on Mackan Street. The Lincoln County Humane Society seized the snakes after the power was shut off. In case you’re wondering, there is nothing illegal about keeping boa constrictors and ball pythons in Thorold.

S.P.C.A. Manager Kevin Strooband says Wednesday evening, the snakes are going to an undisclosed location:  “Under the current Thorold by law, it is legal to own all the animals that we took out of the house.”
