Halton Regional Police are investigating an overnight break-in at an electronic store in Oakville. The whole ordeal was caught on the store’s security camera and the store is hoping that will help police nab the burglars.
At about 5am Thursday morning, 2 thieves broke into Techville smashing the front door of the family run business. The two are seen going behind the store counter swiping phones, laptops and tablets.
Rafael Gomez is the vice president of operations at Techville, he was one of the first people at the store that morning.
“The other things they took were all our stock of cell phones, which is pretty much keeps us running. We are talking about more than 300 phones unfortunately.”
Some of the stolen items included phones and laptops that were in for repair. Techville has started contacting those customers and say they are figuring out a way to compensate their customers for the electronics as well as any data charges they may incur.
They wore gloves and masks, but Rafael hopes on crucial mistake by one of the thieves could help authorities in their investigation. There was at least one person sitting in the back seat of the car acting as a look out. At one point in the video the unmasked man is seen looking back, his face in clear sight of the security camera above.
The business has been selling and repairing electronics for over 9 years, this isn’t their first brush in with thieves but it is the biggest. The company says they’ve lost about $25 000 to $50 000 in electronics. Anyone with information is asked to contact Halton police.
