The Cocksure Lads Movie is a musical comedy written and directed by Murray Foster, formerly of the band Moxy Fruvous. The film is part of the Canadian Indie Film Series and stars Lyndon Ogbourne, Luke Marty, Edward Hillier, Adam Mcnab, and Chelsea Leaman.
The Cocksure Lads, a band from England, come to Toronto on their first-ever North American tour. Ten minutes after arriving, they get into a fight over royalties and break up. The Lads scatter across the city, and spend the day drinking, fighting, meeting girls, falling in love, and searching for a claw-foot bathtub. Through it all they learn what it means to be a band – but can they patch things up before their big show that night?
“What I want to do with The Cocksure Lads Movie,” explains director Foster, “is to create a world that varies between stylized reality and outright fantasy using a realistic setting – or to put it another way, to show that magic can exist in “our” world. I feel that computer-generated worlds have made us lazy as creators and audiences, and I think that people are ready (and hopefully eager) to once again do the imaginative work, the suspension of disbelief, that musicals demand.”
The Cocksure Lads Movie is rated PG.
