A teenage girl from Mississauga has died in hospital after she was hit by a car on Friday night.
Peel police were called just before 8:30 p.m. to the intersection of Britannia Road West and Glen Erin Drive.
“The 15-year-old girl was crossing with another pedestrian,” said Peel police constable Mark Fischer. “They were crossing against a red signal.”
The girl was crossing with a 17-year-old boy who made it through the intersection without being hurt.
Paramedics worked to revive the girl before taking her to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The 70-year-old driver of the car remained at the scene and has been cooperating with police.
Britannia Road was closed for several hours between Erin Mills and Greensboro Drive for the investigation.
Police say speed was not a factor in the crash and no charges have been laid.
