Teen shot by friend while playing with gun in field: OPP

A 14-year-old was taken to hospital after being shot by a friend in Perth County.

Shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports about a group of youths playing with firearms in a field.

Police say one of the teens was rushed to hospital with minor injuries after being shot.

A 15-year-old, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and charged with careless use of a firearm.

The teen has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
