Teen charged, more arrests expected after shooting threats at Hamilton schools

Hamilton police say more threats have been received at a number of schools Thursday.
A threat of a shooting on Friday was reported at St. Jean de Brebeuf Catholic Secondary School. Officers said the threat was found at the back of a classroom and read “school shooting June 3rd.”
This is the second threat St. Jean de Brebeuf Catholic Secondary School has received this week. Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School has received two threats as well. Threats also have been made at Westdale Secondary School and Hillcrest Elementary School this week. However, families at Hillcrest were told in a letter from the board saying the threat has been deemed “unsubstantiated.”
Police arrested a 14-year-old girl following the threat at St. Jean de Brebeuf. She was charged with mischief and later released. Officers said they expect to make more arrests in the coming days.
