Teen charged after video shows stolen car hitting Toronto bicycle cop

Toronto police have released a shocking video that shows a bicycle cop who was struck by a stolen vehicle last weekend.

The incident happened at the intersection of Jameson Ave. and King St. West shortly before 2:30 p.m. on July 22.

Officers located the stolen vehicle with two occupants stopped in the northbound lanes of Jameson Ave. The driver, who is still at large, then sped towards them and hit one cop before fleeing the scene.

The injured officer was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators later found the empty vehicle in the area of Lansdowne Ave. and Queen St. West.

Police arrested a 17-year-old girl on Monday in connection with this incident. She has been charged with eight separate offences, including assault causing bodily harm and theft exceeding $5,000.

She is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 13.

Investigators are asking witnesses or anyone with video of the offence to contact police at 416-808-1900.
