Team Canada’s 1972 Summit Series team to be honoured in Montreal

Members of Team Canada’s 1972 Summit Series team are being honoured before the Toronto Maple Leafs pre-season game against Montreal tonight.
This afternoon the team sat down to talk about their memories from that historic series 50 years ago, which they say changed hockey forever.
50 years to this day Paul Henderson scored the winning goal for the Canadians with 34 seconds left in the game and Canada beat the USSR in the eight-game Summit Series.
The Canadian players admitted today that in 1972 they hated the Soviet players but over the years they’ve come to really like them, and understand now that they were trying to support a family at home.
