Tariffs hurting Canada’s food industry

A new report from the Conference Board of Canada says tariffs on Canadian agriculture products are hurting the country’s food industry.

The Ottawa-based think-tank says protectionism in the food industry is stalling the ongoing free-trade talks with the European Union, and will cause problems in similar negotiations with Asian countries.

It argues that if tariffs were eliminated or lowered, Canadians would be able to access a greater variety of food products at a lower price.
