OPP major crime detectives are at the scene of a suspicious death at Short Hills Provincial Park in Pelham. The 911 call came in just after 9 am.

The report was that a man who appeared to be in his 50’s was dead, lying face down in a ditch.

The OPP were at the Roland Road entrance to Short Hills Provincial Park within minutes. They called in detectives and forensics investigators. They closed off every access.

The body was found in an area of the park called Swayze Falls, about a 4km hike in. To get there investigators were helped by the fire department, transporting them on their rough terrain vehicle.

Police haven’t been saying much about this investigation, but with two forensics vans on scene and officers bringing evidence markers out, it does look suspicious. The coroner arrived late this afternoon and there is only one car left in the parking lot, a blue Saturn.
