Suspended Senators may still get pension

The lawyer for Senator Pamela Wallin says booting the three suspended Senators from the pension plan would invalidate the vote that suspended them from the upper house.  Terrence O’Sullivan says the law is clear that the time Wallin, Mike Duffy and Patrick Brazeau will spend under suspension must count toward the six years of service they need to qualify for a pension.   The government is vowing to change that law.  But O’Sullivan says that would mean Senators did not make an informed decision when they voted this week to suspend the trio without pay.
