Suspected arson causes $3K in damages to backyard shed in Dundas

Hamilton fire reports that a residential blaze caused around $3,000 in damage to a backyard shed, with arson suspected as the cause.

On Wednesday around 8 a.m., crews responded to a fire in the area of Creighton Road and Ann Street in Dundas.

Responding crews reported heavy smoke conditions from a distance. On arrival, crews found a fully involved shed in the backyard of a vacant property.

Crews say the fire was contained to the shed and did not pose a risk to any adjacent structures.

Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control.

Witnesses say they saw two individuals walking away from the property. Police were requested for their arson investigator to be notified.

Crews say there were no injuries reported of civilians or firefighters.

The vacant house on the property was also checked as there was a loose plywood panel closure. It was confirmed to be vacant.

The house was secured by Hamilton fire crews prior to their departure.
