Survivors being pulled out of rubble

At least five survivors have been pulled out alive from the rubble left by yesterday’s devastating earthquake in Turkey.

The death toll has now surpassed 300 people.

Dozens were left trapped in piles of concrete, twisted steel and construction debris after hundreds of buildings in two cities collapsed in yesterday’s 7.2 magnitude quake. But rescues are still being made. Five people, two of them children, were rescued today after one man managed to call for help on his cell phone.

Nearly 13-hundred rescue teams have been dispatched – but can’t get to some affected villages – because the quake destroyed the roads.
