Surprising discovery leads to emotional reunion at Warplane Museum

A woman from England went inside a Canadian World War II aircraft to view a signature written by her late father while he was being flown out of Germany in 1945.

Charles Stanley Pryer was flown out of the combat zone by a Canadian 437 squadron C-47 Dakota, a plane that dropped British paratroopers into Normandy on D-Day.

On Pryer’s way back to the United Kingdom he signed his name, the date, and his hometown in pencil on the inside of the plane, a message that went unnoticed until 2015.

His daughter Jenny Harrington came to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton from Dorset England today to see the signature of her now-deceased father for herself.
