A controversial voter requirement in Arizona has been scrapped by the U.S. Supreme Court.

The court ruled seven to two against a measure mandating prospective voters prove their U.S. citizenship before registering to vote.

The majority says a state cannot require more information than the form itself requires. Alabama, Georgia, Kansas and Tennessee have similar requirements. 12 other states are considering a similar legislation.
