Students live like the homeless
University and college students at 21 schools across Canada are living on the streets this week to raise awareness for the homeless.
In Hamilton, five students from the DeGroote School of Business are hoping to raise $10,000 for a local shelter.
They can’t use money, can only eat what’s donated to them, and are only allowed the pillow, sleeping bag and clothes on their back.
But they still have to complete their assignments and show up for class.
Mac student Tia Toko says it’s all for a great cause.
“We should help out in our community, and help out with people our age who don’t have the opportunity to go to university and even find a place to sleep. We’re so fortunate. It’s a great cause to help out people.”
All donations raised will go to Notre Dame House, a youth homeless shelter, run by Good Shepherd Ministries.
