A special weather statement is in effect for parts of Niagara with strong winds expected to sweep across the region.
Environment Canada says strong winds are expected in Niagara Falls, Welland, St. Catharines and Grimsby on Thursday.
The weather agency says southwesterly wind gusts could reach up to 80 km/h, especially for areas near Lake Erie.
The winds will shift to westerly and slowly ease during the afternoon hours.
Residents are being warned that high winds may toss loose objects and cause tree branches to break.
Local power outages are also possible.
