Striking Ontario workers set to deliver letter urging end to WSIB labour dispute

Striking Ontario Compensation Employees Union workers are set to deliver a letter demanding urgent action to end a WSIB labour dispute that’s left over 3,600 staffers off the job for more than a month.
Union members will deliver the letter to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Directors. They accuse leadership of bad-faith bargaining, delays, refusal to table a final offer and unlawful retaliation.
Accompanying the letter is a petition signed by hundreds of striking workers across the province urging the Board to bring negotiations to a fair and timely conclusion. They are calling for fair wages, workload relief and respect for the bargaining process.
“This strike is now in its second month because of deliberate choices made by WSIB leadership and enabled by political interference. If the Board wants to restore trust and integrity to this organization, they must act now,” says Harry Goslin, President of OCEU/CUPE 1750.
