Into the Storm

Into the Storm is a disaster thriller directed by Steven Quale (Final Destination 5). The film takes place in a city called Silverton, the unfortunate location of a massive storm that produces a number of powerful twisters. The city’s residents all take different approaches on how to deal with the storm; some hunker down and play it safe while others decide to play “storm chaser” and put their lives on the line for the thrill of it. The one thing all the characters do is bring along the camera, as this film takes the “found footage” trend into the eye of the storm. The film stars Richard Armitage, Sarah Wayne Callies, Matt Walsh, and Jeremy Sumpter.

Director Steven Quale liked the idea that there are so many ways people deal with massive tornadoes and wanted to explore it further. “What do you do when confronted by a two mile-wide tornado coming at you? Do you hunker down, do you run away, or you run toward it? I thought it would be really interesting to show how different people react, to see who rises to the occasion when faced with such an imposing natural phenomenon and there’s nowhere to go, no place to hide.”
