Stone Temple Pilots’ Scott Weiland found dead

Scott Weiland, the former frontman of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, is dead at the age of 48.
Dave Navarro, guitarist and member of Jane’s Addiction, first tweeted the news just after midnight, writing “our friend Scott Weiland has died.”
Stone Temple Pilots’ debut album peaked at number three on the Billboard chart in 1993. Their second album, released in 1994, hit number one.
In 2002, Weiland joined former Guns n’ Roses members Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum in a supergroup called Velvet Revolver which released two albums.
Weiland has constantly struggled with substance abuse issues. There’s no word on a cause of death.
A statement, on Instagram, said Weiland had “passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts.”
The Wildabouts had been scheduled to perform last night.
