Hamilton police say the OPP have found the human remains stolen from a parked car between October 31st and November 1st in the Westdale area of Hamilton.

The two sets of lower leg bones, believed to be from the 1800s, were found at a construction site in North York. They were placed in a banker’s box and were in transit to a secured facility when they were stolen.

Oxford county OPP found the box inside an abandoned vehicle with stolen plates Wednesday afternoon.

Hamilton police say the box appears to be intact and will be returned to the archeologist.

The OPP are still investigating.
