Canadian Identity and Culture Minister Steven Guilbeault has resigned from his position in Prime Minister Mark Carney’s cabinet.
The move comes after rumours surfaced that he was unhappy with Carney’s decision to agree to a memorandum of understanding between Ottawa and Alberta.
Included in the agreement was a path for a new bitumen pipeline to British Columbia’s west coast.
It also says Alberta will implement an industrial carbon price above the federal benchmark, while Ottawa will immediately suspend clean regulations in the province, pending a new carbon price agreement.
