Stephen Harper celebrates Vietnamese Lunar New Year in Mississauga

Prime Minister Stephen Harper was at a celebration of the Vietnamese Lunar New Year in Mississauga on Sunday.

The celebration, also known as Tết, was hosted by the Vietnamese Association of Toronto at the International Centre.

The Vietnamese Lunar New Year is the most important holiday in Vietnamese culture.

It has now been 40 years since thousands of Vietnamese fled their war torn country and took refuge in Canada.

There are now more than 220,000 people of Vietnamese descent in the country.
