Stage Fright is a horror musical directed by Jerome Sable. The film is set at a musical theatre camp for young actors that is in the process of staging a production of ‘The Haunting of the Opera’. The production hits home for Camilla (Allie MacDonald), as it was during a Broadway production of the same show that her mother Kylie (Minnie Driver) was murdered by someone dressed as the play’s villain. Starring in the lead role would be Camilla’s dream, but history wants to repeat itself as a killer begins terrorizing the camp. The film co-stars Douglas Smith as Camilla’s brother Buddy, and Meat Loaf as the theatre camp’s director.

Sable generated a lot of buzz with his short film The Legend of Beaver Dam. The short also helped convince some of the key cast members to sign on including Minnie Driver and Meat Loaf, who has largely tried to stick to non-singing film and TV roles. Over his entire acting career, Meat Loaf has only sang in two films: The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and for a small role in Jack Black’s Tenacious D movie. During production, the cast all lived together at Camp Manitou in Parry Sound where the movie was shot. Some theatre scenes were also shot at the Capitol Centre in North Bay.

Stage Fright is rated 14A.
