Stabbing in St. Catharines

A man is fighting for his in hospital after a stabbing in St. Catharines last night. It happened in the Elberta and Facer Street area around 8 p.m. A man called 911 to report that he had been stabbed. The man was taken to hospital where he continues to receive treatment for life threatening injuries. An area near where the incident occurred was cordoned off while a forensic examination of the scene was conducted. That area has since been released by police. Police have made an arrest. They say they located the suspect as he was returning to his home. The accused and the victim were believed to be known to one another.

30 year old Eric Benson of St.Catharines is charged with one count of aggravated assault. Anyone with information is being asked to contact police.
