St. Joseph’s hospital employee charged with theft, breach of trust

An employee of St. Joseph’s hospital has been arrested following an investigation involving the hospital’s automatic dispensary system.

Hamilton police were contacted by the hospital on Dec. 10, 2021, after a quality control audit alerted staff to discrepancies in the dispensary system.

Investigators determined the system had been accessed multiple times between Aug. 17 and Dec. 9 without a physician’s written order.

Police have charged 35-year-old Jenna Whitfield, of Hagersville, with theft under $5,000 and criminal breach of trust.

Whitfield has been released on an undertaking and will appear in court on Feb. 24.
