A St. Catharines woman has been arrested and charged after human remains were found inside an apartment in the city.
Niagara police were dispatched to an apartment building near Lake Street and Lakeshore Road on June 30 when a caller said they had not seen or heard from one of their tenants for some time.
Once inside the apartment, uniformed officers discovered human remains.

The remains were identified with the assistance of forensics and foul play was ruled out in the cause of death.
Police say 63-year-old Marie Fischer is facing charges including neglect to perform duty to a dead body and indecent interference.
Detectives believe there is no risk to public safety and say that the investigation is ongoing. The identity of the victim is not being released at this time.
