Niagara police have identified Niagara’s first murder victim of the year as 39-year-old Angela Mcadorey. Police were called to the home on Appleby drive in St. Catharines Friday morning. When they arrived, they found her body inside suffering from obvious trauma. Police say a knife was used in the attack.

43-year-old Karl Mcadorey, her estranged husband, who was not living at the home at the time, was arrested. The incident happened just two days after Karl’s mother had died.

This isn’t the first time police were called to the home. According to court documents obtained by CHCH, Karl was charged with assaulting his wife on two occasions and resisting arrest in 2014. One of the charges alleged he had assaulted Angela with a golf club, but that charge was later dropped.

He is now been charged with second degree murder.
