The day after the Hamilton Bulldogs would neither confirm nor deny the team is moving to Newfoundland at the end of the season, the speculation about the city’s hockey future continues.

Hamilton Bulldogs fans have still not heard anything from the club except for a brief “no comment’ statement after news of the team’s possible relocation to St. John’s.

It’s likely there will be hockey played at First Ontario Centre, but at what level? How long could it be vacant before that happens if the team moves?

Ward 2 councilor Jason Farr is confident the club will be replaced by a worthy successor but empathizes with fans. Farr says, “To those who are feeling it today, I mean this news still unconfirmed is a blow to a lot of folks who have invested almost two decades, I guess it is two decades with the Hamilton Bulldogs, I said earlier they’re as much a part of this city as steel and donuts.”

Team owner Michael Andlauer hasn’t commented on who will face off in the future for Hamilton, although reports suggest he’s in talks to buy the Erie Otters.
