Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, to visit Niagara this weekend

Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, will be making her way to Niagara this weekend to attend the Duchess of Edinburgh competition hosted by the Lincoln and Welland Regiment in St. Catharines.

The annual competition being held on Saturday has military groups come together to compete in a series of mental and physical military challenges.

The Duchess, who serves as the Colonel-in-Chief of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment will present the The Countess of Wessex Cup to the winning team.

Following the competition, she is expected to attend a dinner in support of the Lincoln & Welland Regimental Foundation, with a special performance by the Lincoln and Welland Regiment Association Band.

On Sunday, the Duchess is expected to attend a Remembrance Day Service taking place at the St Catharine’s Cenotaph at Memorial Park.

There she will be accompanied by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, before attending a reception to meet soldiers of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment and their families.

Following her visit to Niagara, the Duchess is set to spend three days visiting sites at the University Health Network in Toronto.

The Duchess is married to Prince Edward , the Duke of Edinburgh and the youngest sibling of King Charles III.
