The Skeleton Twins is a dramatic comedy directed by Craig Johnson (True Adolescents). It stars Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Luke Wilson, and Ty Burrell. From the Sundance synopsis:

Living separate lives on opposite sides of the country, estranged siblings Maggie and Milo are at the end of their ropes. But after a moment of crisis reunites them, Milo goes to spend time with Maggie in the small New York town where they grew up. A dental hygienist, Maggie struggles with her unhappy marriage to the painfully good-natured Lance, while Milo tracks down Rich, the English teacher with whom he shares a checkered past. Adrift and wondering how they ended up so far from who they were supposed to be, the siblings try to patch things up.

The Skeleton Twins premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award in the U.S. Dramatic category. Hader and Wiig starred together on Saturday Night Live for years, and judging by early reviews, they carry that chemistry into this film, both delivering standout performances. Variety’s Geoff Berkshire said in his review that “The lead players’ “SNL” baggage actually works in their favor, both in the effortless way they establish a shared history for estranged twins Milo (Hader) and Maggie (Wiig), and in the pic’s savvy use of comedy as a coping mechanism for hard times.”

The Skeleton Twins is rated 14A.
