SIU takes over investigation after Highway 403 crash in Burlington

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has taken over an investigation of a crash on Highway 403 in Burlington Tuesday night. 

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were initially posting updates about the lane closures near Waterdown Road around 10 p.m.

OPP urged drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes. 

Some drivers reported seeing a motorcycle in the middle of the highway at the centre of the investigation. 

The scene was fully cleared just before 2:30 am. on Wednesday.

The SIU gets involved when an incident involving a police officer results in death, serious injuries or a firearm being discharged.
