The Special Investigations Unit has been called to investigate a crash on the Hamilton mountain between a civilian and a police officer.

A 35 year old Hamilton man was taken to St. Joe’s hospital for treatment of an arm injury after the motorcycles collided near South Bend Rd W and Upper James St just after 2pm Monday afternoon.  The man fled on foot after the collision but was later arrested by another officer in the area of West 1st and McElroy Rd.

The SIU is called in when police officers are involved in incidents where someone has been seriously injured, dies or alleges sexual assault.
