SIU investigating fatal officer-involved shooting in Mississauga overnight

MISSISSAUGA — Peel police say there was an officer-involved shooting west of Toronto while officers were investigating in the area a little after midnight.

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit has taken over the investigation and confirmed in a post on X that a person died in Council Ring Rd and Collegeway area in Mississauga, Ont., involving Toronto Police Service.

Peel police say one man was left with life-threatening injuries, three people are in custody, and a fourth man was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A Toronto police officer was also taken to hospital with minor injuries after a collision.

Peel police say there are no other suspects.

The SIU says it will provide an update later this morning.
