Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating the death of a man on the Hamilton Mountain, across the street from Juravinski Hospital.
The Special Investigations Unit is calling it a falling death and say a post-mortem will be done on the 65-year-old.
Officials say emergency crews were called around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, for reports of a man in distress on the Juravinski Hospital parking garage.
While police were on their way, another call was made to 911 about a man lying on the ground at street level.
The SIU says an officer who arrived on scene located the man and began assisting a medical professional who was providing first aid.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The SIU is called when police officers are involved in incidents where someone has been seriously injured or dies.
Three investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
They completed their on-scene investigation around 7 a.m. Friday.
